BMI courses sought after by top matriculants
A host of top academic achievers in the past matric examination has enrolled for BMI and Actuarial courses on the PUK Campus of the North-West University. According to Prof. Riaan de Jongh, director for the Centre of BMI: ‘It is the best intake in the Natural Sciences Faculty since the start of the programme in 1996’. Below is a list of the candidates who achieved 85% or more for Higher Grade Mathematics. The number of A symbols obtained and the school at which the student matriculated is listed in brackets. According to the records of the Centre for BMI, 56 students enrolled for BMI and actuarial courses, of which 26 obtained 6 A’s or more in the matric exam – a stunning 46%. ‘The NWU marketing department deserves strong credit for this achievement, but we believe that the quality of education in the BMI and Actuarial programmes also contributed significantly. BMI students who complete their studies project this positive image in the industry. As far as I know all of the students who completed the Master and the honours degree in 2005 already received job offers’.
