The Department of Physiology and the Department of Nutrition and Family Ecology functioned separately in the Natural Sciences Faculty until 1999.

Restructuring and changes in research focus at the University resulted in a change from academic departments to the establishment of Schools.

This was to facilitate greater efficiency and effectiveness in the main tasks of the University.

Physiology, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences have been grouped together in the School for Physiology, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences and this School functions in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Dynamic study and career opportunities are offered by the school.
