Undergraduate
B.Sc Nutrition
Entry requirements: Potential students are subject to a selection procedure which consists of the following:
- academic achievement
- a selection interview with the selection panel
- psychometric tests
- Details about the selection requirements and process may be obtained from the Director of the School of Physiology, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences.
NB. Students must have Physical Science at Matriculation level. A D symbol for Mathematics on Higher Grade or a C symbol on Standard Grade is a prerequisite
Course duration : 4 years
Subjects: Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physiology, Research and Extension Work Methodology, Food Service Management, Nutrition, Foods, Therapeutic Nutrition, Microbiology, Physiology, Information Systems, Systems, Statistics, Tswana, Philosophy of Science.
Students must obtain all the prescribed subjects up to the Third Year level before commencing the Fourth Year Students must have a driver’s license before commencing the Fourth Year practical training
Students must register with the Professional Board as student dietitians at the beginning of their First Year
Student membership of the professional association is compulsory
BSc Biological field
Entry requirements: Matriculation exemption with Mathematics on the Higher Grade, or, as an alternative, a Natural Science subject, preferably Physical Science on the Higher Grade and Mathematics at least on the Standard Grade.

Entry requirements: Apart from the application of Regulation A.10, the following specific requirements apply:
Candidates must have a suitable Hons. B.Sc. Degree in the specific subject area or must comply with the requirements specified with each curriculum
Students are allowed to follow Curriculum G757P: Dietetics if they have a four year Baccalaureus Degree in Dietetics
Minimum and maximum duration of the studies: Apart from the Regulations A.10.1.1; A.10.1.2;A.4.7.6; and A.4.11, the duration of the study is at least one year. The candidate must complete the study in three years. If not, the candidate must submit a motivation for the continuation of the study to the Faculty Council.

The entry requirements are as specified for Dietetics above. Candidates who have a M.B. Ch.B may enter for the M.Sc. Nutrition degree if knowledge in certain areas is updated to the satisfaction of the Director of the School.

Philosophiae Doctor
This study may be either full-time or part-time. The general Regulation A.11 is applicable. The degree must be completed within five years. If not, the Faculty Council will consider extending the duration of the study.
Entry requirements: Candidates must have a suitable M.Sc. degree in the specific study field
The curriculum for each of the study fields consists of a thesis based on original research on an approved topic in the specific field

Entry requirements for the degree Doctor Scientiae:
Candidates who do not have a Ph.D. degree may be allowed to do a special Doctor’s degree if they have a B.Sc., Hons.B.Sc. degree according to A.11.15.3.1.3
A candidate who has an equivalent qualification must apply via the Director of the School, the Faculty Council and the Senate of the University for equivalent status before being allowed to enter for the Special Doctor’s degree.
