Module outcomes: After completing this module, the student should be able to:
• evaluate and describe the development of a culture from the pre-historic era; • discuss ancient culture from the Old Near East; • discuss the culture and political development of ancient Greece; • describe the history and daily life of classical Greece.

Module outcomes: After completing the module the student should be able to:
• discuss Roman social history, the development of the Roman judiciary system and the constitutional development of Rome; • recognise and translate basic legal Latin terminology and translate it; • recognise and translate general Latin terms and abbreviations; • recognise the influence of Latin on daily life; • discuss in main lines the cultures of Byzantium, the Islam and certain African cultures.
