SHORT CV - Louis H. du Preez 

Louis Heyns du Preez was born on 9 July 1962. He obtained the degrees B.Sc.Ed. (1984), B.Sc. Hons. (1985), M.Sc. (1986) and Ph.D. (1993), all from the University of the Free State, Bloemfontein.

He started his career as a biology teacher at the Education Centre for gifted children, Bloemfontein (1989-90). From there he accepted a position at the National Museum in Bloemfontein as head of the Herpetology Department (1991-94). In 1995 he was appointed as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Zoology at the University of the Free State, a position which he held until the end of 2000 when he accepted a position as Associate Professor at the Potchefstroom University.

RESEARCH INTERESTS - Louis H. du Preez

His research activities deals mainly with amphibian diseases and parasites with a special focus on polystomatid flatworms belonging to the Class Monogenea. Further research interests includes declining amphibian populations and amphibian ecotoxicology.
