Within the M.Env.Sci. degree, students have three options:
- Research option (M.Env.Sci. 217104 and 217105) in curriculum N821P, N822P and N825P. This programme follows on a relevant B-degree and includes year of theoretical study followed by a 128 credit dissertation.
- An environmental management option where students register for the degree M.Env.Man. by completing N824P (Environmental Management) after completion of the theoretical component of one of the curriculums N820P - N825P. Change to this option, is subjected to selection. A limited research component, consisting of a 48 credit dissertation, is mandatory and the M.Env.Sci. degree is taken part time over a two-year period.
- A theoretical option, where students only take the theoretical component of one of the curriculums N820P, N821P, N822P, N822P, N823P and N825P to obtain a B.Sc. (honnours) degree.
Students are able to specialize in one of the following five streams within Environmental Sciences:
- Environmental analysis and management
- Ecological remediation and sustainable utilisation
- Biodiversity and conservation biology
- Water sciences
- Plant protection
