COMMERCIALISATION OF EXPERTISE

Commercialisation of expertise is done by means of short courses that are offered by the Faculty and administered by the School of Continuing Teacher Education (SCTE). As the schools of the Faculty serve different communities within the education sector, each school addresses the need for further training and development through short courses in a unique manner.

The primary types of short courses used are:

  • a short course like a workshop / presentation / course / programme / unit standard consisting of less than 120 credits.
  • credit-bearing short course: Short course with credits on specific NQF levels. A credit-bearing short course may therefore lead to obtainment of a registered unit standard or formal qualification recognised by the NWU, and\
  • non credit-bearing short course: Skills training or workshops as part of the community service by the Faculty are regarded as non credit-bearing short courses. Training in these short courses does not contribute towards the obtainment of registered unit standards or formal NWU qualifications. Non credit-bearing short courses are also subject to the quality control
