ABOUT US
The Faculty of Education Sciences has had a proud history of teacher training since 1919. The context in which teacher training takes place reflects the continuous interaction between the wider and local contextual influences, for example
Norms and Standards for Educators (2002);
2001 incorporation of the POK into the PUK;
2004 merger of two universities to form the NWU;
2006 restructuring of the Faculty;
2007 move to new buildings; and
2008 National Policy Framework for Teacher Education.
The Faculty of Education Sciences consists of three schools (School for Curriculum-based Studies, School of Education, School of Continuing Teacher Education) and a Focus Area (Teaching–Learning organisations), each of which is managed by a director who reports directly to the Executive Dean
